Animal Research Tomorrow | SciComm Awards

ART Science Communication (SciComm) Awards aim to support young science communicators in promoting innovative communication strategies and/or creating resources and tools for promoting greater transparency on animal research. The proposals sums of up to 3.000 €.

The following conditions apply:

  • The submitted proposals should describe a detailed plan to develop creative communication approaches and/or creating resources and tools to promote positive views on – ethically responsible – animal research for the benefit of science, humans and animals. 
  • ART SciComm Awards are aimed at young science communicators, which also includes journalists, teachers, researchers and/or technicians with a passion for science communication and public outreach - principal investigators can apply maximally up to 5 years after starting their first independent position. Applicants without an academic track must upload certificates documenting their education. We look forward to applications from all nationalities and geographical regions. If you have applied before but did not get funded, we encourage you to apply again. 
  • Funding is available to cover expenses directly linked to the development of the proposed work plan, including, but not limited to, acquisition of equipment, software or services, short travel expenses, teaching materials, venue spaces and/or hosting of events. The ART Award money can NOT be used to cover institutional overheads, salaries or stipends. Please note that Animal Research Tomorrow (ART) cannot enter any grant agreements/contracts with the host Institution as this is an ART Award not equivalent to any grant by funding agencies. 
  • All deliverables from ART SciComm Awards will be made freely available via a Creative Commons License. 
  • Animal Research Tomorrow requires full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations that govern national and international data security and privacy. For example, collection of data from human participants (text, images or videos) must be approved by a human ethics committee or equivalent local regulatory body. All data, images, videos of research involving animals used must be connected to licensed projects. If applicable, proof of license requests or copies of valid licenses for the proposed work plan must be submitted as part of the application procedure.
