Every two years since 2011, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Landesamt für Gesundheit und Soziales), in cooperation with the Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection and the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa), has awarded research projects from Berlin and Brandenburg a research prize to promote the development of alternative and supplementary methods according to the 3R principle. The awarded projects are intended to help avoid or reduce the use of laboratory animals or to reduce the stress on animals in animal experiments. These activities are intended to promote networking between scientists and provide a boost for further initiatives in the development and application of alternatives to animal testing.
This prize, worth a total of 30,000 euros, is awarded every two years in cooperation with the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa) and the Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination.
Current information on the research award in 2023 will be announced on this page in good time.
